Our Story

Started in a 100 sq. ft. pop-up in 2017 as an expression of our founder s love for quick service restaurants serving California Mexican cuisine; Maiz has since expanded to 18+ locations in Mumbai and 9+ locations in Bangalore, with over 10 lakh happy customers

California Inspiration

During his time in Los Angeles, our founder Veer Bhartiya, frequented quick service restaurants that specialized in serving fresh food. These establishments were redefining the dining experience by offering high-quality, fresh food with a premium touch, while maintaining affordability and convenience.

He couldn't wait to bring this movement to India.

The Birth of Maiz Mexican Kitchen

Upon returning to India, Veer embarked on a culinary adventure. In 2017, he set up a small pop-up in South Bombay for six weeks. It was here that Maiz Mexican Kitchen was born.

Maiz Journey

It started with a pop-up. It grew into a movement.

2017 · Where It All Began

Maiz made its debut as a six-week pop-up in South Bombay. What began as an experiment quickly turned into a crowd favourite, running at full capacity week after week.

 

2018 - First Location 

 

Our first kitchen opened in Tardeo, marking the transition from a pop-up experiment to a permanent presence.

2018–2022 - Growing, One City at a Time

Over the next few years, Maiz steadily expanded across Mumbai, opening 4 new outlets and strengthening our presence across key neighbourhoods. 

2023 - Experience Comes First

2023 marked the launch of our dine-in experience centres. We also expanded to 7 new locations across Mumbai, bringing the full Maiz experience closer to more people.

2025 - Beyond Mumbai

2025 saw the launch of our flagship dine-in store in Bangalore to showcase the authentic experience, signature flavours, and hospitality to a new city. We also expanded to Pune and Hyderabad.

What the Future Holds

As we look ahead, our focus remains on thoughtful growth. The coming years will see national expansion, while staying true to the flavours and values that started it all
